17.04.2005 “I Feel Sympathy for the American Nation!”
February, 16, a meeting was held between the young
Karelian anti-fascists, ex-prisoners of German death camps &
young American Christians in the Museum in memoriam of the victims
of fascism in honor of M. Kolbe. This was the second visit to the
museum of the foreigners this year. During the meeting the
ex-prisoners conducted a tour of the exhibition for the Americans
& told them about those times when they were within a hair’s
breadth of death in the German camps. The ex-prisoners with the
profoundest gratitude recall the day when they were liberated by the
American troops. “I feel the most deep sympathy for all of the
American nation, because this nation set us free from the terrible
conditions of the death camp”, says ex-prisoner Zinaida
Vladimirovna. Then, during a friendly tee-party, the activists of
the Youth Anti-fascist center conversed with the guests about the
neo-nazism & neo-fascism in Russia & USA. The photos were
shown representing the activity of neo-nazis in Karelia & the
one of the center, as well as a CD film on extremism in America
published by the Anti-Defamation League. The Americans were
astonished by the fact that in Petrozavodsk this issue is far more
known of, than in America. A proposal of cooperation was made,
including the one in the field of charity to the benefit of senior
people. Maxim Efimov, Chair of the Karelian regional
department of Interregional youth social & charity organization
"Youth Human Rights Group" (YHRG), Head of the Youth Anti-fascist
center, Editor in chief of the anti-fascist bulletin "Zero o'
clock".
