26.07.2005 The Letter of protest of Karelian antifascists achieved the Chancellor of Germany
On the 25th of July activists of the
Karelian regional department of “The Youth Human’s Rights Group”
(YHRG) and the Youth Antifascist Center at the Museum of Memoriam of
victims of fascism in honor of Maximillian Kolbe (YAC) addressed the
ambassador of Germany in Russia with the letter of protest against
the international march of neo-fascists that was to take place on
the 20-th of August in Wunsiedel. This is the content of the letter:
“On the 60 anniversary of the liberation of Europe from Nazism, on
the 20th of August, thousands of European neo-nazi are going to make
a march in a Bavarian town Wunsiedel, celebrate the death of Gess
and glorify the regimen. These demonstrations have been annually
taking place since 2001 on the lawful bases in Wunsiedel where ashes
of Gess are buried. Moreover, Jurgen Rieger, neo-nazi lawyer from
Hamburg who was repeatedly convicted and has a criminal record
participates in the demonstration. A year before there were about
4800 participants of the demonstration, including many well-known
extremists from USA, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Great Britain,
Netherlands, Belgium, France, Czechia, Slovakia, Russia, Austria,
Spain, Italy and Greece. It was the biggest number of participants
over the 18 years. This is the result of a long-term neo-nazi
campaign which was carried out all over the world. The march in
honour of Gess has the aim to give Nazis the lawful bases to warship
nazi. Today we can see the growing importance of the march for the
whole spectrum: people of all ages, of different social groups, and
even the political parties which are contenders. Being opponents
of fascism, nazi, racism activists of The Human’s Rights Group and
citizens of Russia, the country which defeated fascism, we find this
shameful demonstration absolutely unacceptable. That’s why we insist
on you to use all your influence on the government on all levels of
Germany to cease this impudent glorification of dictatorship and of
war, which was started by Nazis. We appeal for you to bring this
protest to the highest political levels.” Today, on the 10-th
August, the Chairman of YHRG of Karelia and YAC Maxim Efimov has
received a letter from the administrative machine of the Chancellor
of FRG signed by mister Ackman which says: “Taking into account your
request, I’m glad to inform you that the demonstration planed on the
20th of August, 2005 in Wunsiedel was forbidden by the competent
body. The interdiction was reconfirmed by the court of a second
instance”. Thus using the international pressure we managed to
achieve the interdiction of the mass concourse of neo-fascists and
legalization of their activity! Maxim Efimov, The Leader of
The Karelian Department of “Youth Human Rights Group”
(YHRG), Chief of the Youth Antifascist Center
