29.07.2005 NIPR welcomes an American racist

The cooperation of Russian and foreign national extremists, which had seemingly died down in the late 1990-s is being revived in last years. From Russian side it is initiated by the National imperial party, which had been denied registration in Russian Ministry of Justice, and particularly the party’s leaders A. Sevostianov and S. Terekhov. Not being content with their contacts with German neo-nazi, they are trying to find allies among the USA racists. In this connection we come across the figure of David Duke.
Born 1951 in Louisiana, David Duke in the 1970-80-s was making a career of a standard American radical right politician. He started it as a leader of a little white racist organization in Louisiana University in early 1970-s and gradually became Ku-Klux-Klan Grand Wizard. In 1989 he was elected a member of Louisiana legislative assembly. That was not, however, the end of his career. He unsuccessfully ran for a Governor and a Presidency in 1988 and 1992 and he also failed to be elected to Congress in 1999.
A book by Duke has been printed in Russia entitled “In his own eyes”, stuffed with anti-Semitist myths. The author, for instance, blames “Jewish lobby” for populating America by illegal immigrants from Latin America and Africa, which, according to Duke, had a destructive effect on he European identity of the American nation. Duke visits Russia regularly, starting with 2001 and appears before the public of many cities with the propaganda of his ideas. He has recently taken part in the meeting of racists from different countries, organized by NIPR under the motto of creating ‘a global white front’.
Russia, however, was not the only country favored by Duke. The rector of Ukrainian Interregional Academy of staff management Stchepkin awarded ex-Grand Wizard an honorable medal of his educational institution.
